Mechanical Strength Test for Surge Protective Device
According to IEC 61643 clause 7.9.2.1, the surge protective device shall have adequate mechanical strength so as to withstand the stresses imposed during installation and use.
Compliance is checked by the appropriate tests as follows:
The samples are subjected to strikes by means of a pendulim impact test apparatus, with required fall distance of impact: 100mm, 150mm and 200mm.
Portable Surge Protective Devices are tester in a tumbling barrel, falling from a height of 50mm.
